It was reported that an Asian female Elephant named Sambo, died due to heat stroke. The reason was that she walked for 40 minutes in 104 degree heat. Veterinarians concluded that the elephant death was caused by the hot temperatures which caused stress, shock, high blood pressure, and a heart attack.

The age of the Sambo was between 40 and 45 years. She was an old worker of the Angkor Elephant Company since 2001. Due to this loss, company had decided that remaining 13 elephants would work for fewer hours until the weather cools.

For animal rights, more than 45,000 people made a petition. Petition reads, “There is no such as cruelty free animal rides. People should think while riding on elephants on holidays should not cause them harm”. Human welfare group has banned the elephant riding and other activities which cause harm to them, because the Asian elephants are declared endangered by International Union for Conservation of Nature.
